This workshop teaches the ancient art of basket weaving using natural materials like Piccabeen palm branches and hand-dyed raffia.
This two-and-a-half-hour workshop will introduce you to the basics of weaving by teaching you how to weave a small basket from the ground up. You are welcome to bring other natural materials you would like to use in your basket, including feathers, shells, and beads, if you wish to include them in your creation.
Weaving baskets is a skill that has been handed down from generation to generation for almost as long as human history has existed. In order to create something useful and beautiful, it involves taking fibers from the landscape in order to create something from them.
The purpose of this class is to help you get started on your basket, and to create something that you can admire and display!
